Lee Tanner is the Founder and CEO of Crucible Combat Corporation and the innovator of S2 Strength & Stamina, R2 Recover & Restore and B2 Battle Balm. Lee has been involved in martial arts, nutrition and fitness training for over three decades. He is a Krav Maga and Systema Instructor, as well as holding certifications from the National Exercise and Strength Trainers Association in personal fitness training, sports nutrition and sports hypnosis. Lee created Crucible Combat in order to fill the void that existed for nutritional support products specifically geared for combat athletes.
Ami Seier has a Masters degree in Physical Therapy and is an NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. She has been a practicing therapist, running her own company for nine years. Ami entered the competitive NPC Figure stage in 2001, competing in several figure competitions. After taking a long unscheduled break with fertility challenges and finally giving birth to two healthy children, Ami is back competing in the new NPC Bikini division where she recently won the NPC CO State Championships and the Overall title at the NPC Carla Sanchez Fitness Fiesta, in addition to the ‘Hot Mama’ model search. Ami is training to compete at the NPC Bikini National Championships in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, November 20-21, 2009.
Adam Locks, Ph.D. is Senior Lecturer/Programme Coordinator in Media Studies at the University of Chichester, UK England, and specializes in horror cinema and representations of extreme bodies. He is co-editing a book entitled, Flex: Critical Readings in Bodybuilding, to be published by Routledge in 2010. Adam is a prominent speaker, sparking interest at conferences including those of the ISSN, including lectures: ‘The History and Subculture of Professional Bodybuilding in America,’ ‘Never Seen a Woman Like That Before: A History of Female Bodybuilding, 1977-2006,’ ‘Flayed Animals in an Abattoir: The Bodybuilder as Body-Garde’ 2008.
Rick Bloomer, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor within the Department of Health and Sport Sciences at The University of Memphis. Rick holds a Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He held prior positions at Duke University Medical Center and Wake Forest University as a research physiologist and visiting assistant professor, respectively. His research focus is centered on oxidative stress and frequently involves the use of antioxidant therapy to decrease macromolecule oxidation. Rick has been published in Sports Medicine, International Journal of Sports Medicine, Journal of Science and Medicine in Sport and many more.
Ashleigh Gass, B.S., CSCS, MES developed a passion for sports early in life, leading to success as an athlete and her career in the health and wellness industry. At the University of Victoria she studied Kinesiology and Psychology while also mentoring under Strength and Conditioning Specialists, Chiropractors, Physical Therapists and Sports Nutrition specialists. Her post-graduate diploma, completed at the National Coaching Institute, focused on long-term development of the elite athlete. Ashleigh currently specializes in injury prevention, program design, and helping people improve their approach to training and nutrition. Nicole Moneer Guerrero is a Top 5 nationally and Top 10 internationally ranked PRO fitness competitor and fitness model, as well as a skilled personal trainer and educator. As the 2009 Ms. Bikini Classic Universe Champion, her disciplined, results-oriented approach has garnered her industry accolades and it has inspired her clients to achieve their own personal fitness goals. Nicole is an NASM personal trainer and an AFAA group exercise instructor for LifeTime fitness. She also holds Power Plate, Zumba and TRX certifications. Showcasing her competition results, fitness tips and writing, Nicole has been featured in such publications as Planet Muscle, Fisico y Fitness, Sauced Chicago, Oxygen, Almost Famous, Ms. Fitness, Iron Man and Fitness Experts.
Abbie E. Smith, M.S., CSCS, CISSN is a doctoral candidate at the University of Oklahoma where she co-coordinates the Metabolic and Body Composition Laboratory. She received her B.S. in Health and Exercise Science from Truman State University, and her Masters at the University of Oklahoma. Abbie is currently studying under the direction of Dr. Jeffrey R. Stout, where her research is focused on nutritional and training interventions to improve performance, general health and body composition. She has contributed to the scientific community at the NSCA and ACSM since 2005 and continues to share the latest research through her column in the Sports Nutrition Insider, scholastic books and through various peer-reviewed journals.
Rich Attonito is currently fights for the American Top Team and has a professional MMA record of 8-4. He is also a Reality Fighting Champion and a 3-time North American Grappling Champion; unscored on in 12 consecutive matches. Rich resulted at the Div I level for Hofstra University, winning the Athletic Academic Award and the most improved wrestler award for the year 2000. He graduated from Hosftra with a B.S. in Film Production and is currently an NASM Certified Personal Trainer with 8 years of experience. Rich discusses balancing time, supplements and training for MMA pro fighting.
Michael Propper, M.D. is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon who also holds a Fellowship in Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine. He has practiced medicine for over twenty five years. As a double Ivy League educated Physician and Surgeon, Dr. Propper has successfully performed over 8,000 surgeries and has treated many thousands of patients with Orthopedic as well all types of age-related medical issues. As a Fellow of the American Academy of Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine, Dr. Propper is well versed in the treatment of all types of medical issues, including hypertension, obesity, male andropause, menopause, fibromyalgia, cholesterol issues, chronic fatigue, ED, MS, Parkinson’s, and many other disease states and age-related issues.
Jason Hartman, MS, CSCS, is currently the Strength & Conditioning Coordinator at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, New York. His duties include overseeing the resistance training and conditioning programs for the resident programs of the Lake Placid Olympic Training Center which include: Bobsled, Skeleton, Biathlon, Freestyle Skiing, and Luge.
Patrick Jacobs, Ph.D. earned his doctorate at the University of Miami. He is a Licensed Athletic Trainer (Florida) and has recently done research on vibration training. Listen to Patrick pontificate and edify us on the nuances of vibration training and the history of the hand-held model that has proliferated in many urban retail centers. Patrick is on faculty at Florida Atlantic University in beautiful, sunny, and sometimes humid, South Florida.
Barbie Guerra has surmounted incredible challenges to become a successfully Figure Competitor. When she was 2-1/2 years old in Pasadena, TX she climbed up onto an electrical transformer and grabbed some wires. Her arms were burned so badly that they had to be amputated, and she sustained scarring on her legs. Despite doctors odds that she would not live she not only survived but thrived. She became fascinated by fitness competition and began entering competitions.
