Rick Bloomer, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor within the Department of Health and Sport Sciences at The University of Memphis. Rick holds a Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He held prior positions at Duke University Medical Center and Wake Forest University as a research physiologist and visiting assistant professor, respectively. His research focus is centered on oxidative stress and frequently involves the use of antioxidant therapy to decrease macromolecule oxidation. Rick has been published in Sports Medicine, International Journal of Sports Medicine, Journal of Science and Medicine in Sport and many more.
Ashleigh Gass, B.S., CSCS, MES developed a passion for sports early in life, leading to success as an athlete and her career in the health and wellness industry. At the University of Victoria she studied Kinesiology and Psychology while also mentoring under Strength and Conditioning Specialists, Chiropractors, Physical Therapists and Sports Nutrition specialists. Her post-graduate diploma, completed at the National Coaching Institute, focused on long-term development of the elite athlete. Ashleigh currently specializes in injury prevention, program design, and helping people improve their approach to training and nutrition. Jeffrey R. Stout, Ph.D., FISSN is currently an Assistant Professor and Director of the Metabolic and Body Composition Laboratory in the Department of Health and Exercise Science. He received a undergraduate degree in Exercise Science from Concordia University in 1989 and a masters and doctorate in Exercise Physiology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1992 and 1995, respectively. In addition, Dr. Stout is a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine (FACSM), Fellow of the International Society of Sports Nutrition and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). Dr. Stout has conducted and published numerous studies that focus on nutritional intervention on exercise performance, muscle function and body composition in journals such as Journal of Applied Physiology, Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research and Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise. Furthermore, he has edited and co-authored six books on sports nutrition.
Ben Rosenblatt, graduated in Sport and Exercise Science from the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff where he is currently undertaking a Ph.D. in the biomechanical specificty of the power clean to sprinting. Previously he was a voluntary strength and conditioning assistant at Long Beach State University and the Rehabilitation Strength and Conditioning Coach at the Olympic Medical Institue. Now in his second season as Head of Sports Science and Conditioning at Birmingham City Football Club, he has been promoted to the Premier League Campaign to Manchester United.
Dr. Michael Hartman is an Assistant Professor of Exercise Science and Co-Director of the Strength and Conditioning Research Laboratory at Florida Atlantic University. Dr. Hartman teaches courses in resistance exercise technique and strength and conditioning while pursuing research in the area of neuromuscular adaptations associated with strength training and conditioning; including athletic performance enhancement, acute adaptations associated with strength-power training, overtraining syndrome, and changes in neuromuscular performance with aging. Dr. Hartman completed his Doctoral degree in Exercise Physiology at the University of Oklahoma and has previously worked as a Sports Science Research Assistant at the US Olympic Training Center.
Dr. Jeff Volek is an associate professor and exercise and nutrition researcher at the University of Connecticut. He is a Registered Dietitian (R.D.) and holds a Ph.D. from Penn State University, where his major fields of study were exercise physiology and nutrition. Having published more than 165 peer-reviewed studies in the last decade, he is one of the most prolific exercise, diet, and supplement researchers in the world. He has performed some of the seminal scientific work on dietary supplements such as creatine, carntine, and a variety of other ergogenic aids. He is co-author of “The Testosterone Advantage Plan†and author of “Men’s Health TNT Dietâ€. His current primary area of research is focused on physiological adaptations to low carbohydrate diets with emphasis on outcomes related to metabolic syndrome, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. He uses prospective diet and/or exercise interventions and use sophisticated cellular techniques to understand changes in adiposity, fatty acid and lipoprotein metabolism, inflammation, vascular function, and endocrine adaptations. He currently has multiple projects evaluating novel health benefits of whey protein. Dr. Volek does not just write about his research, he actually uses it. In 2000, he won the Indiana state powerlifting championship in the 82.5 kg (181.5 pounds) weight group with the highlight being a 585 pound squat and a 600 pound deadlift.
Gary Eklund, “The Coach” has coached high school sports for over 25 years, including basketball, baseball and girls softball. He has lived and worked in Santa Barbara, CA for 20 years. Gary’s jobs outside of coaching were in radio in sales and on-air host and promotions. He produced his own football talk show for 19 years, as well as celebrity charity events since 1983, in 10 Western States and Mexico, raising over $2,000,000 for several charities. Gary now hosts his own yearly poker tournament in Las Vegas. Gary worked out with Carla Sanchez for four months after heart surgery in 2007, and in four months lost 30 lbs, 7 inches off his waist, reduced his blood pressure from 190/90 to 112/58 and reduced his cholesterol from 230 to 132.

Ron Mendel, Ph.D. earned his doctorate in Exercise Physiology from Kent State University. A former Assistant Professor at Walsh University (N. Canton, OH) in the Department of Physical Therapy, he is currently the Program Director for Exercise Science at Mount Union College in Alliance, Ohio.
