On today’s podcast we talk about a piece I put up about 2011 Topps & Panini football box prices. I wanted to take a look back and see what boxes were selling for over & above wholesale cost.

There were several new releases over the last few weeks, and I thought it would be cool to talk about some of them.

11/12 Panini Contenders Hockey has some really cool looking patch cards with silver ink on black cardboard that are very nice. The checklist isn’t super deep, so it might be worth checking out to see if your favorite players are included.

11/12 Donruss Elite Hockey is a set I actually got to open a box of. I actually really like the look of the cards, but felt that there could be a few more parallel cards in the set.

11/12 Panini Past & Present Basketball is a very cool set because it includes redemption cards for both 11/12 NBA RC’s AND 12/13 NBA rookies. The only thing about this set I want to caution people about is the auto redemptions may or may not go in order of the 2011 NBA Draft. I don’t think Panini knows yet, so just be careful.

He’s now working his way through the Giants farm system, and Giants fans hope he’s on fast track to the Big Leagues. Big show on tap as the the NBA playoffs are in round 2, and we specifically check in on the Oak City Thunder and Miami Heat, and wonder where Lebron James was in the final 6 minutes of the Heat Game 2 loss to the Pacers. We have tons of baseball though, with Josh Hamilton being a freakish freak, and Carlos Beltran for some reason thinking its 2004. And last night a very interesting situation went down between Terry Collins and David Wright. Then hows the rest of the league looking? Well look around. And hey does anybody care about hockey over here?! We got Rangers and Devils facing to make it to the finals. Eh, we can try! Oh and lets not forget that WWE Over the Limit is this Sunday, can it be good? Here we go, MDR ready to throw down!

We talk about the surprises that Reddick/Gomes/Inge have been so far and how awesome Reddick’s hair is and how good Gomes has been. We finish up talking about how we wish to see Seth Smith get more playing time and what’s going to happen when ManRam comes back.

We are joined this week by Kyle Boddy (@drivelinebases) to talk about the more technical side of baseball. What’s good/bad about Tyson Ross? Is Sonny Gray just Rich Harden 2.0? Will the Indians actually win the Central this year?
