Kristen Birth is one of the key nutritionists in the Department of Nutrition at Cell Science Systems, a laboratory company specializing in immunology tests for Integrative Medicine involving food and chemical sensitivities. This type of food intolerance may be responsible for the wave of inflammatory and autoimmune disease that is dominating Western medicine, including obesity, diabetes and numerous other conditions. Kristen helps individuals stay compliant and learn techniques for managing their substitution diets, including creating customized menus and recipes. Kristen also competes in the Ms. Fitness competitions and is the reigning Ms. Fitness Southeast States. She moved on to place 10th in the USA, and 19th in the World.

Justin Schwind is the Strength and Conditioning Coach for the University of South Alabama Jaguars football program. Schwind earned his B.S. in Exercise Science from Texas State in 2004. After serving as a strength and conditioning intern at Rice, where he also assisted with neuroscience research at Baylor’s College of Medicine in a study on athletic performance and visualization, he would go on to earn his M.S. from Mississippi State in Physical Education in 2007. Priscilla Ribic is a drug-free powerlifter currently residing in Alaska, the Last Frontier! She became interested in powerlifting in high school when she took a weight training class and discovered how strong she was. At the age of 16 and a body weight of 135, she benched 165 pounds and squatted 285 pounds raw. Her best competition lifts currently are a 548-pound squat, 341.5-pound bench, 556-pound deadlift and 1388-pound total in the 148 lb. weight class. Patrick Jacobs, Ph.D. earned his doctorate at the University of Miami. He is currently on faculty with the Department of Exercise Science and Health Promotion at Florida Atlantic University. Patrick is a Licensed Athletic Trainer (State of Florida). He has recently done research on vibration training and the history of the hand-held model that has proliferated in many urban retail centers. Patrick’s writing has been featured in numerous publications including the Journal of Neural Engineering, American Journal of Sports Medicine, Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research and more.
Anna Level is a Fitness Director at Platinum Fitness Center in Pembroke Pines, FL. As a Fitness competitor she advanced to the national level in the the ESPN Fitness America Pageants in 1998 and then to the International level at the 1999 ESPN Fitness Universe. Anna next moved to U.S. Sport Aerobics, making it to the national level and competing in the 2000 U.S. National Sport Aerobic Championships. She then crossed over to NPC Fitness and earned Professional status after the 2000 NPC National Fitness Championships. In 2002 Anna made her pro debut in the IFBB and after only two shows qualified for the 2002 Fitness Olympia where only the top fifteen women from around the globe are eligible. Alexis Martinez of Pembroke Pines, FL is an Olympic Taekwondo competitor who is coming on strong. She was named Outstanding Female Athlete at the USA Taekwondo Junior Olympics after taking gold in the junior welterweight class, winning three matches by a combined 49-9. She won bronze in the Adult Bantamweight class at the USAT National Championships. She also appeared in the Faces in the Crowd feature in the August 10, 2009 issue of Sports Illustrated. Lynsey Beattie is an IFBB Figure professional and Fitness Model born in Liverpool, England. After spending time as a magician(!) and make-up artist/special effects consultant Lynsey attained a five year degree in Beauty Therapy. After working in salons as a therapist she took over a gym and started bodybuilding training, initially as an instructor then as a competitor. Following a series of successful competitions she took time off to raise her new twin babies and 15 year old son. Lee Tanner is the Founder and CEO of Crucible Combat Corporation and the innovator of S2 Strength & Stamina, R2 Recover & Restore and B2 Battle Balm. Lee has been involved in martial arts, nutrition and fitness training for over three decades. Ami Seier has a Masters degree in Physical Therapy and is an NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. She has been a practicing therapist, running her own company for nine years. Ami entered the competitive NPC Figure stage in 2001, competing in several figure competitions. After taking a long unscheduled break with fertility challenges and finally giving birth to two healthy children, Ami is back competing in the new NPC Bikini division where she recently won the NPC CO State Championships and the Overall title at the NPC Carla Sanchez Fitness Fiesta, in addition to the ‘Hot Mama’ model search. Adam Locks, Ph.D. is Senior Lecturer/Programme Coordinator in Media Studies at the University of Chichester, UK England, and specializes in horror cinema and representations of extreme bodies. He is co-editing a book entitled, Flex: Critical Readings in Bodybuilding, to be published by Routledge in 2010. Adam is a prominent speaker, sparking interest at conferences including those of the ISSN, including lectures: ‘The History and Subculture of Professional Bodybuilding in America,’ ‘Never Seen a Woman Like That Before: A History of Female Bodybuilding, 1977-2006,’ ‘Flayed Animals in an Abattoir: The Bodybuilder as Body-Garde’ 2008.
Taylor Waldrop was born in Arlington, TX and raised in Westminster, CO. After competing in her first figure competition in July of 2006 she was hooked. Three years later she turned pro by winning her figure height class at the 2009 USA Championships with the help of Dylan Armbrust. Taylor is a full time Sports Marketing student (graduating December 2009), works for Corona, is an LFL Denver Dream Football player and was recently hired on by VPX. She enjoys spending time with her boyfriend and his wonderful children, staying in shape, and always pushing herself mentally and physically in different ways! Erin Stern is an IFBB Figure Pro, winning the Figure Overall at NPC Nationals in November 2008. Billy Beck earned his undergraduate degree in Exercise Science and his Masters in Exercise Physiology. He has attained numerous certifications during his career and continues to dedicate himself to daily study and research. Rick Bloomer, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor within the Department of Health and Sport Sciences at The University of Memphis. Rick holds a Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He held prior positions at Duke University Medical Center and Wake Forest University as a research physiologist and visiting assistant professor, respectively. Ashleigh Gass, B.S., CSCS, MES developed a passion for sports early in life, leading to success as an athlete and her career in the health and wellness industry. At the University of Victoria she studied Kinesiology and Psychology while also mentoring under Strength and Conditioning Specialists, Chiropractors, Physical Therapists and Sports Nutrition specialists. Her post-graduate diploma, completed at the National Coaching Institute, focused on long-term development of the elite athlete. Abbie E. Smith, M.S., CSCS, CISSN is a doctoral candidate at the University of Oklahoma where she co-coordinates the Metabolic and Body Composition Laboratory. She received her B.S. in Health and Exercise Science from Truman State University, and her Masters at the University of Oklahoma. Abbie is currently studying under the direction of Dr. Jeffrey R. Stout, where her research is focused on nutritional and training interventions to improve performance, general health and body composition. She has contributed to the scientific community at the NSCA and ACSM since 2005 and continues to share the latest research through her column in the Sports Nutrition Insider, scholastic books and through various peer-reviewed journals.
Marie Spano, M.S., RD, FISSN holds a B.S. in Exercise and Sport Science from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro and an M.S. in Foods and Nutrition from the University of Georgia. She is also the current VP of the International Society of Sports Nutrition and is frequent lecturer on the role of functional foods in sports performance.
