Patrick Jacobs, Ph.D. earned his doctorate at the University of Miami. He is currently on faculty with the Department of Exercise Science and Health Promotion at Florida Atlantic University. Patrick is a Licensed Athletic Trainer (State of Florida). At The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis he is leading studies on Exostim, an advanced electrical stimulation system that allows for a decrease in the incidences of secondary disease in people with spinal cord injury. He has also recently done research on vibration training and the history of the hand-held model that has proliferated in many urban retail centers. Patrick’s writing has been featured in numerous publications including the Journal of Neural Engineering, American Journal of Sports Medicine, Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research and more.

Dara Wittenberg is a Certified Endurance Coach with USAT, USAC, USATF and RRCA. She has been a personal trainer for 10 years and a triathlon coach for seven. Dara has trained several athletes for whom fitness, health, and their sports must fit into very busy lives. Her clientele includes full time mothers, office workers, school teachers and entrepreneurs. The goal is to help them strike a balance between training to their maximum potential and balancing the various other aspects of their lives, as well as to provide motivation to perform at their best. David Sandler, M.S., CSCS*D, CCS, HFD is President and Co-Founder of StrengthPro Inc. He is a doctoral candidate at the University of Miami and has been a strength and conditioning consultant for more than 19 years. He has presented more than 230 lectures with organizations such as the NSCA, ACSM, AAHPERD, IFPA, SWIS, ECA and SCW Fitness. David has authored or co-authored five books: Sports Power, Weight Training Fundamentals, The Resistance Band Workout Book, Plyo Power, and Strength Training Everyone. He has also been the lead exercise and sports physiologist for more then 30 episodes of television for National Geographic’s series Fight Science, Super Strength, the Science of Steroids, Humanly Possible, and the Emmy Award winning Sport Science series on Fox Sports Network. He is the Chairman of The Arnold Strength Training Summit at the Arnold Classic and is a consultant and member of the advisory board for Muscle and Fitness magazine and the Performance Training Journal of the NSCA. He is a former powerlifter and focuses his research in strength and power development.

Ashley Cooper, an NPC Figure Competitor, fitness writer, personal trainer and fitness model, has done more in only two years than many do in their entire career. Moving from Cincinnati to Miami in 2002, she attended the University of Miami and studied Journalism and Sports Administration. Her goals after graduating included becoming a sportscaster and hosting her own TV show. Having been an athlete all her life, Ashley realized she did not just want to simply talk about other people’s athletic accomplishments, she wanted to accomplish more of her own. She switched gears into fitness and has since been featured in a workout DVD, asked to write for many credited fitness sites, been shot by some of the top photographers in the business and is currently working on publishing her first book. Douglas S. Kalman, Ph.D., RD is a Director in both the Phase I Unit and Departments of Endocrinology and Nutrition Division of Miami Research Associates (MRA). He has been active within the sports nutrition community for more than 15 years. Dr. Kalman has worked with professional, collegiate and high-level amateur athletes in and outside of the U.S. He is the Past Chair of the Nutritionists in Complementary Care-DPG, is a Fellow of the American College of Nutrition and is a Spokesperson for The International Society of Sports Nutrition and The National Strength and Conditioning Association. His work has been published in books and in scientific and popular press mediums. In addition, he is an Adjunct Professor both at Florida Atlantic University (Exercise Science and Health Promotion) in the Robert Stempel School of Public Health at Florida International University in Miami teaching Advanced Nutrition, Sports Nutrition, Obesity Management and acting as a Preceptor for the student interns.
