Boyd Epley, the most decorated strength and conditioning coach ever, works for the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as Director of Coaching Performance.  Epley’s impact on the field of strength and conditioning is unquestioned. In 1969, he became the first full-time collegiate strength and conditioning coach when he was hired by Tom Osborne, then Nebraska football coach and now a U.S. Congressman, and athletic director Bob Devaney. In 1978, Epley founded the NSCA as a resource for strength coaches. His vision has grown into the worldwide authority on strength and conditioning that features 33,000 members in 56 countries worldwide, the finest research journals in the field and a number of cutting-edge educational conferences. 
Nebraska won five national championships in football during Epley’s 34-year stint as Head Strength Coach for the Huskers. Epley trained three Heisman winners, Eight Outland Award Winners and 78 All-American football players. Additionally, 64 of his assistants became strength and conditioning professionals, some in private practice and many working at such storied college programs as Notre Dame, Oklahoma,
Florida State, Ohio State, and UCLA.  In 1993 Epley was given the first-ever NSCA Lifetime Achievement Award. That same year he was honored by the Nebraska Football Hall of Fame with the Lyell Bremser Merit Award. Most recently, Epley was recognized by the All-American Football Foundation for his career contributions to the sport. Epley is a member of the U.S.A. Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Hall of Fame and was honored on the March 2001 cover of American Football Monthly magazine, which tabbed him as the Godfather of Strength and Conditioning. Lindy’s magazine also recognized Epley as one of its Top 100 Most Important College Football Sports Figures of the Century. Epley is married to the former Jane Lilyhorn of Holdrege, Neb., and they have a son, Jay Robert, and a daughter, Jenna Shea. 

John Berardi, Ph.D.  has earned a doctoral degree from the University of Western Ontario (2005) with a specialization in the area of exercise biology and nutrient biochemistry. Prior to his doctoral studies, Dr. Berardi studied Exercise Science at Eastern Michigan University (Masters program; 1999) as well as Health Science, Psychology, and Philosophy at Lock
Haven University (Undergraduate program; 1997).  Throughout, Dr. Berardi’s research has focused on the interaction between nutrition, sports supplementation, and exercise performance. This research has led to the publication of 8 scientific abstracts, 12 scientific papers and textbook chapters, and over a dozen presentations at scientific meetings. Further, Dr. Berardi has taught college courses in Strength Training, Exercise Science, Laboratory Techniques in Exercise Science, Nutrient Metabolism, Fitness and Wellness, and Exercise Nutrition.
