Erik Helland, is Head Strength & Conditioning Coach in his 22nd season with the Bulls. Certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a strength and conditioning specialist and USA Weightlifting as a Level I coach, he has previously coached at Elk Mound (Wis.) High School and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Erik has consulted with numerous college and professional strength and conditioning programs and has worked extensively with athletes from the NFL and European Basketball Leagues, as well as professional, collegiate and high school athletes from nearly every sport.

Jakob Vingren, Ph.D. received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Kinesiology from the University of North Texas before pursuing a Ph.D. in Kinesiology at the University of Connecticut which is currently ranked the #1 doctoral program in the country. During his undergraduate education he was a walk-on on the UNT football team as a tight end. Dr. Vingren’s research interests include resistance exercise and the effect of alcohol on hormones, muscle and athletic performance. One of the more out of the ordinary research projects he has worked on included resistance training of chronically intoxicated rats.
